PEGNet Research Exchange Program

Setup of the research exchange program

In 2012 PEGNet initiated a new research support program to promote the exchange between researchers from top-tier universities, think tanks and networks in Africa and Germany. The PEGNet research exchange furthermore enhances capacity building and is aimed at fostering collaboration and initiating joint research projects by providing Post-Docs and promising Ph.D. students the opportunity to live, study, and work in Germany or various African countries while pursuing their research. The first round of exchange is planned to take place in 2013. Post-Docs or PhD students from 2 to 3 different African institutions are coming to Kiel AND 1 to 3 researchers from the Kiel Institute will spend some time at African institutions for duration of up to eight weeks.

Initial partners are:

  • IFPRI office in Dakar, Senegal
  • ISSER at University of Ghana, Accra

As a research partner you should:

  • coordinate the program in your institution
  • select prospective young researchers (PhD students or Post-Docs) from your institution for the exchange program
  • assist researchers from Kiel during their stay at your institution with both organisational issues and research cooperation
