Evaluating the Socio-economic impact of Geographical Indications

Summary:

The goal of this project is to measure the socio-economic benefits of geographical indications (GIs) and to assess the extent to which they contribute to reducing vulnerability. By means of recollecting secondary and primary data this projects hopes to shed some light on the multiplier effects of GIs in the rural setting via forward and backward linkages. Moreover, the project aims at undertaking a critical analysis of the legal tools, rules and regulations that shape the institutional framework of the GI scheme.
