Conference Theme

The Conference again provided a platform for high-level dialogue between development researchers, practitioners and policy-makers. It featured parallel sessions based on invited and contributed papers and project presentations. These were complemented by a debate, a roundtable discussion, and keynote speeches by renowned speakers from academia, economic policy and development practice. Speakers included Justin Yifu Lin (World Bank), John Page (Brookings Institution), and Nancy Qian (Yale University).

In addition, the PEGNet Best Practice Award for effective cooperation between research and practice was granted to Habib Benzian and his colleagues from Fit for School.

Organizers

The conference was co-organised by the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and supported by the KfW Development Bank and the Courant Poverty Research Centre at the University of Göttingen.
