Conference 2022 | Extended Deadline! Call for Papers

03.05.2022

Deadline extended until 30 June 2022!

We are happy to announce this year’s PEGNet conference on "Addressing fragility and conflict in developing countries" taking place on 1-2 September 2022 in Kampala, Uganda. Fragility and conflict are a significant challenge to development and constrain efforts to achieve poverty reduction and sustainable development. Conflicts have severely stunted economic growth in many low-income countries and continue to be one of the leading causes of humanitarian crises. The conference will provide a platform for development scholars, practitioners and policy-makers to reflect on leading research on conflict and fragility as well as other topics in development economics that are related to the poverty-inequality nexus. It will consist of panel discussions, paper presentations and the PEGNet Best Practice Award.

Best Practice Award

To date, the policy impact of research is often weak and development research may not always ask the right questions. Modern research tools seldomly make their way into policy design and there is a lack of shared knowledge between development research and practice. This implies that more interaction between researchers and practitioners is needed. PEGNet awards the Best Practice Award to projects that overcome this gap and have achieved successful collaboration between development research and practice. The award of 3000 EUR will be given out during the PEGNet conference. All projects that fall within the nexus of poverty reduction, equity and growth are invited to apply until the 30.06.2022 via E-Mail Address protected.
