Panel discussion | Regional development and long-term impacts of COVID-19

COVID-19 has severely disrupted lives worldwide and particularly countries in Africa are expected to suffer huge long-term impacts on regional development. The focus of this workshop, that is jointly organised by Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) and PEGNet, is therefore to discuss the latest research on the impacts of COVID-19 in Africa, the expected long-term impacts and provide research skills to conduct rigorous analyses of these effects, which can serve as basis for policy recommendations.
After the introductory keynote by Ibrahim Kasirye (EPRC), the workshop will continue with a panel discussion on “Regional development & long-term impacts of COVID-19” with Elizabeth Bryan (IFPRI), Isis Gaddis (World Bank), Francis Mwesigye (Uganda Development Bank), and Rehema Kahunde (EPRC). The discussion will be moderated by Elizabeth Birabwa Aliro (EPRC). The panel discussion will be hybrid with part of the participants on site and others joining online. The workshop will provide a platform for development scholars from Uganda to reflect on state-of-the-art research methods and discuss their current research and will feature training sessions and a workshop for junior researchers from Uganda.
