Registration is now open!
Register now for the PEGNet online conference on "Climate risks and policies" that will take place on 22 and 23 March 2021 at 2:45-6:30 pm CET!
Like the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change is a risk multiplier - it increases fragility, inequalities and the vulnerability of economies, in particular in developing countries. Responding to the challenges of climate change requires thus a comprehensive approach to transition towards resilient low-carbon economies. Achieving this transition requires an understanding how climate change will impact economies in low-income countries. Which factors enable and which ones constrain the transition? How will the transition interact with other socio-economic systemic failures? How can a just transition be ensured? These and more questions will be dealt with in the online event that is jointly organised with the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The conference will consist of several sessions and keynotes on carbon pricing, the possibilities of a just transition and the impacts of climate change on pro-poor growth, health and migration in low-income countries. Please find the conference programme attached and on our website: https://www.pegnet.ifw-kiel.de/conferences/climate-risks-and-policies/.
